Time Filter

Overview

The Time Filter provides advanced control over when your strategy is allowed to take trades. This feature allows users to exclude specific weekdays and filter out trades during selected market sessions (e.g., New York, London).

Weekday Selection

Choose which days of the week to exclude from trading. Enabling Monday, for example, will prevent trades on Mondays.

Trading Sessions

Choose which market sessions (New York, London, Tokyo, Sydney) to exclude from trading. These are based on session time windows in GMT-6.

These sessions are commonly used in global markets, especially forex and futures.

Best Practices & Usage

  • Avoid High Volatility Windows: Filter out sessions with frequent volatility (e.g., New York open) to reduce risk if your strategy is sensitive to spikes.

  • Customize by Asset Class: Forex traders may want to exclude Tokyo or Sydney. Futures traders might prefer to focus on New York hours only.

  • Refine Strategy Timing: Use the filter to eliminate periods where performance historically drops. Combine with backtesting results for optimal configuration.

  • Combine with Holiday Filter: Use in conjunction with the Holiday Filter to completely avoid execution during both sessions and known holidays.
