The News Events feature in Lune Auto Trader allows users to define and manage scheduled news-based blackout periods—times during which automated strategy execution is paused. These windows are ideal for avoiding high-risk events such as economic reports, earnings releases, or geopolitical developments that can cause sudden and unpredictable market volatility.
By pre-scheduling these events, traders can safeguard their accounts and maintain prop firm compliance during periods of increased market uncertainty.
The News Events Panel includes the following options:
Add Event
Opens a window to input the date, time, and description of the news event.
Remove Event
Deletes a selected event from the news list.
Close
Closes the panel.
Each event consists of a precise date and time in the format YYYY-MM-DD HH:MM:SS
and a short description for identification.
Click “Add Event”.
In the Date and Time field, enter the exact moment you want Lune Auto Trader to recognize as a news event.
Format: YYYY-MM-DD HH:MM:SS
Example: 2025-03-06 12:00:00
In the Description field, enter a label such as "FOMC Statement" or "Non-Farm Payroll".
Click “Save” to add the event.
Select the event from the list in the News Events window.
Click “Remove Event”.
The event will be deleted from the scheduled blackout periods.
Plan ahead: Add high-impact events (e.g., CPI, FOMC, GDP, Fed speeches) at the beginning of each week or month.
Use clear descriptions: This makes it easy to manage and audit your list over time.
Avoid trading into volatility: By blocking strategy execution around major economic events, you reduce the likelihood of slippage, widened spreads, or failed order execution.
Monitor timezone alignment: Always confirm that your PC timezone aligns with the market you trade in.
